## anonymous one year ago Simplify: (sin Θ − cos Θ)2 + (sin Θ + cos Θ)2

1. Nnesha

let sinx = x cos x= y $\huge\rm (x-y)^2 +(x+y)^2$ (x-y)^2 is same as (x-y)(x-y) apply foil method

2. Nnesha

familiar with the foil method ?

3. anonymous

hm could you help me out a little bit more

4. Nnesha

alright so foil (x-y)(x-y) here is an example a(b+c) multiply both terms by a a times b+a times c

5. Nnesha

|dw:1438884851326:dw| first multiply 2nd parentheses by x and then multiply by -y

6. Nnesha

|dw:1438884893981:dw|

7. anonymous

would the answer be -cos^2 with the 0 with the line through it

8. Nnesha

nah how did you get that . show your work.

9. anonymous

ok so would it be 0 or 2?

10. Nnesha

how did you get that are u just guessing or did you worke it out?

11. anonymous

i worked it out

12. Nnesha

okay so(x-y)(x-y) = ??

14. Nnesha
