|dw:1438890072583:dw| Solve for side AC

2. Nnesha

$\rm sin \rm \theta = \frac{ opposite }{ hypotenuse }~~~~ \cos \theta = \frac{ adjacent }{ hypotenuse } ~~\tan \theta = \frac{ opposite }{ adjacent }$

3. Nnesha

|dw:1438890308055:dw| which function you should use to find x ?

4. anonymous

TANGENT! :D

5. Nnesha

you need hypotenuse

6. Nnesha

you have to find AC which is hypotenuse of right triangle given is adjacent

7. anonymous

? I really suck at this so please be patient with me. I am math disabled so.

8. Nnesha

actually i have to go. otherwise i can wait for 'n hour :=)

9. Nnesha

you should have one angle and one side to find 3rd one given is adjacent asking for x which is hypotenuse so apply cos function $\rm cos 35 = \frac{ adjacent }{ hypotenuse }$

11. Nnesha

|dw:1438899541766:dw| $\rm cos 35 = \frac{ adjacent }{ hypotenuse }$ $\cos 35 =\frac{ 15 }{ x}$ use calculator for cos 35 degree and then solve for x that's it.
