    well the power of 2 is really a multiplication so do 3*4 then 3*3*8 then add the answers

    I can't really tell you which one to pick. You'll have to go over that with your instructor, but if I were forced to pick one, I'd pick the choice that is closer to 84.

    its interesting that 168 is double 84... perhaps just a coincidence
