Should any punctuation be added to this sentence? "The first thing that struck me as we entered the room where the painting was displayed was the size of the painting."

    comma before "where" and after "displayed" since it is not a necessary information.

    The first thing that struck me as we entered the room (comma) where the painting was displayed (comma) was the size of the painting.

    between displayed and was should be a pause... so maybe a comma or a semicolon?
