## mathmath333 one year ago question english/maths

1. mathmath333

\large \color{black}{\begin{align} & \normalsize \text{ In a certain code}\hspace{.33em}\\~\\ & \normalsize \text{'253' means 'books are old'} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ & \normalsize \text{'546' means 'man is old'} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ & \normalsize \text{and '378' means 'buy good books'} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ & \normalsize \text{ What stands for 'are' in that code ?} \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ \end{align}}

2. mathmath333

\large \color{black}{\begin{align} &a.)\ 5 \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ &b.)\ 6 \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ &c.)\ 2 \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ &d.)\ 4 \hspace{.33em}\\~\\ \end{align}}

3. UsukiDoll

well there's gotta be a number assigned for old

4. UsukiDoll

unless it's a trick question where 2 = books 5 = are 3 = old

5. mathmath333

lol

6. Miracrown

7. terenzreignz

There is no 2 in the "buy good books" code Usuki

8. hartnn

old is common in 1st 2 statements, 5 is common from 253, 546 so 5 = old similarly, books = 3 which leaves are = 2

9. Miracrown

Don't wanna spoil it 4 every1 else

10. terenzreignz

Oh, go on ahead, you know you want to ;)

11. Miracrown

HARTNN APPARENTLY ALREADY SPOILT IT, YOU SPOILER @hartnn xD

12. terenzreignz

There's no need to shout :|

13. Miracrown

Oooops just realized I had my caps on hahaha

14. hartnn

*guilty as charged* :P

15. UsukiDoll

oh ! I see it now @hartnn the number 5 appears twice for the first two statements.. just like the word old the number 3 appears twice for first and third statement with books the word are is only mentioned once since old = 5 and books = 3 are = 2

16. terenzreignz

Oh, Usuki, you will never not amuse me ^^

17. UsukiDoll

ugh stop being rude on here!

18. terenzreignz

I fail to see where I was rude :D

19. UsukiDoll

everywhere and there are mods... ha ha

$$\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}$$ @UsukiDoll yeah explain XD $$\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}$$

48. Miracrown

I'm following ...

49. mathmath333

how do we get 17 from 8?? i don't know

50. UsukiDoll

division?!

51. hartnn

the first thing to try in any puzzle is + - * / so I tried to get 17 and the central number was 8, so we use 8 everytime, multiplied 8 by 2, now how to get 17? add 1 then saw that same pattern repeats, multiplied 17 by 8 and added 1, to get the next number!

52. imqwerty

74. mathmath333

wow :D

75. UsukiDoll

gather all numbers solve for the unknown 11+9+16+n=54 36+n=54 n = 54-36 n = 18 11+9+16+18=54 54=54

ok the question is -- qwerty has 2 chits....he called lenny nd albert nd gave them the chits....qwerty told them that the two chits had 2 consecutive numbers written on it and the numbers lied in the range [0,100].nw qwerty asks lenny nd albert to guess each other's numbers. Lenny - hey abert i donno ur number Albert-i donno ur number lenny- now i know ur number what are the possible numbers that lenny nd albert could get :)
