Feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. Feminism is dead. Although there are feminists that advocate for the true meaning of feminism, many "feminists" reject actual feminism for a more extreme version of "feminism".
From https://www.youngcons.com/new-polls-prove-feminism-dead/A new Economist/YouGov Poll released Wednesday reveals that 72% of Americans do not consider themselves to be feminists. The majority of women (62%) do not consider themselves feminists.
From The Washington Times:
…Men do not appear to be very liberated these days either: 18 percent “accept the label” for themselves, the poll reports.
“Democratic and Republicans women see the word differently: 48 percent of Democratic women but just 14 percent of Republican women would label themselves feminist,” the survey says.
Things are not so promising even among those females who grew in the 1960s and 70s when, yes, college coeds burned their bras and followed the teachings of Betty Friedan. Among the Baby Boomer ladies from age 45-64, 41 percent say they are hold-out feminists.
And more numbers: women over 65 (28 percent), Gen X women ages 30-44 (32 percent) and Millennials ages 18-29 (42 percent).
And about that insult.
“It is negative associations people carry regarding feminism that causes Americans to shy away from the label. People are twice as likely to consider calling someone a feminist to be an insult (23 percent) rather than a compliment (12 percent),” the poll says.
Feminism is dead and most women believe they have achieved equality with men, the Equal Opportunities Commission admitted yesterday.
It said a majority of women despise new equality laws as no more than "artificial engineering".
An EOC-backed study - produced to mark the 75th anniversary of the extension of the vote to all women - appears to spell the end for the brand of feminism which blossomed at the end of the bra-burning Sixties.
Now, many women see feminism as old-fashioned and "ball-breaking". Most women, the study suggests, believe the aims of equality are now achieved.
The report, carried out for the EOC by a research group, said: "There was little support for the idea that women are unequal. Sex inequality is not widely considered a major issue."
The findings demonstrate deep opposition to the kind of agenda pursued by Trade Secretary Patricia Hewitt, whose recent paper described women who stay at home to bring up children as "a problem".
One woman told the study, which was based on talks with focus groups: "Every time I think of feminism, I get this really awful feeling. In their quest for women's rights, they really do oppress men, in which case, in my eyes, they are no better than men."
But the Government quango rejected ruling itself past its sell-by date. It instead put forward the concept of "institutional sexism" - to match "institutional racism".
Because of so many "feminists" that taint the idea of true feminism, there are people that actually consider themselves "anti-feminsm".
There are many more people like this who, because of this "new feminism", reject feminism, which is slowly killing it.
