Look at the relationship between science and progress. Different types of both.

I could say personally, science is everything. The study of science forwards our own modern civilization, making our society is today. Without the study of science you couldn't have the computers you had now. Science is the whole reason of all of us today. So of course it would benefit! Since we are now able to be aware who we are as a person, and inside... (Like your cardiovascular system.) Anyways, this is just my opinion.
