I'm sorry @Liannaj , but sexual reproduction is the reason for fertilisation. Fertilisation is the fusion of both male and female gametes and it takes place in the female body ( it can also take place outside the body) as explained by @emiliovega . Asexual reproduction does not involve fertilisation.
