## anonymous one year ago Solve the equation for x?

1. anonymous

I'm trying to write the equation one sec its not letting me

2. anonymous

Why won't it let me add an equation?

3. anonymous

4. anonymous

oh there we go, lemme add it

5. anonymous

$X ^{2} = \frac{ 4 }{ 36 }$ Solve the equation for X

6. anonymous

okay, do you have any idea how to solve it? or any ideas on how you would start?

7. anonymous

no I just moved to where i currently am and i am SOOO behing in math

8. anonymous

behind*

9. anonymous

im not the best at math, but I will try my best to help you..

10. anonymous

I don't understand this is the slightest.....

11. LynFran

what the opposite of square?

12. anonymous

square rooting???

13. LynFran

square root correct

14. LynFran

so we can square root both sides of the equation.. that way we will have...

15. anonymous

2/6?

16. LynFran

dw:1439950133272:dw

17. anonymous

huh?

18. LynFran

yes 2/6 ...but that can be simplify

19. anonymous

What does x equal

20. LynFran

21. LynFran

22. anonymous

I'm only in 8th grade and everything is SO confusing to me i just moved here and i learned none of this in 7th grade and i dont understand how to find the value of x

23. LynFran

ok lets start over

24. LynFran

dw:1439950485998:dw

25. LynFran

since x is squared, to get rid of the squared we can square root it... but we must squared the right side of the equation also to make the equation true..

26. anonymous

ok how do i do that?

27. LynFran

dw:1439950649681:dw

28. anonymous

ok

29. anonymous

|dw:1439943535543:dw| ???

30. LynFran

now x will remain on the left side off the equation... but we have to simplify the right side of the equation...correct

31. LynFran

now 2/6 can be reduce...right?

32. anonymous

1/3 ???

33. LynFran

correct

34. anonymous

so how do we find x

35. LynFran

we just did

36. anonymous

x=1/3 ??

37. LynFran

dw:1439950878401:dw

38. anonymous

ok so my other equation is

39. anonymous

$X^{2}=\frac{ 16 }{ 49 }$

40. LynFran

we follow the same concept for this also..

41. anonymous

5.3333333..../24.5 ????????????????

42. LynFran

dw:1439951194741:dw

43. LynFran

whats the square root of 16=? whats the square root of 49=?

44. anonymous

4/7 ?

45. LynFran

correct

46. LynFran

dw:1439951382443:dw

47. anonymous

these questions are so hard

48. LynFran

no they are not... u just have to follow the concept and i will be very easy

49. anonymous

dw:1439944311305:dw

50. anonymous

I know this will be a deciml but i dont understand how to do it

51. LynFran

no it will not be decimal... let x be the question mark so...

52. anonymous

25?

53. LynFran

dw:1439951624771:dw

54. LynFran

yes x=25

55. LynFran

dw:1439951700279:dw

56. anonymous

dw:1439944531381:dw

57. anonymous

sorry im terrible at drawing on computers lol

58. LynFran

correct

59. anonymous

Ok thank you SO much for your help!!! I understand now!
