    length is 9 yards longer than the width we call it w so that would be w+9

    we already know the perimeter to be 428 yards and we know tht Perimeter = the sum of all length and widths

    so perimeter= 2w +2(w+9) then 428=2w+2(w+9)

    solve for w to find width then for length just add 9 to what you found

    method is correct, equation is incorrect "the length is 9 yards longer than quadriple the width" means that l = 4w + 9 repeat the same steps as above, using this new equation

    428 = 2w + 2(4w+9) solve for w, and then l, as before.

    l+w=428/2=214 4w+9+w=214 5w=214-9=205 w=205/5=41 l=4*41+9=164+9=173
