The absolute value means to take the "positive" version.

So, |-6|=6

- anonymous

So I just need to fix 1 & 3

- JoannaBlackwelder

I have only checked 1, 2, and 3 so far

- anonymous

Oh ok.

- JoannaBlackwelder

4, 5, and 6 are right :-)

- JoannaBlackwelder

7 and 8 are right :-)

- JoannaBlackwelder

So, for 3, subtracting a negative is the same as adding.

- anonymous

Sorry froze. But for 3 I checked and I meant to put positive 15

- JoannaBlackwelder

Awesome :-) Any thoughts on 1, then?

- anonymous

Uh, either A or B?

- JoannaBlackwelder

No, that's not what I get. Remember that |-6|=6

- JoannaBlackwelder

So we are ordering -3, -8, 6, 2

- anonymous

right. But still a little stuck sorry

- JoannaBlackwelder

It's cool. So, from least to greatest of the list I just gave
-8,-3,2,6

- JoannaBlackwelder

But we got 6 from |-6|

- JoannaBlackwelder

So, -8, -3, 2, |-6|

- anonymous

rights, so we start with the negatives

- JoannaBlackwelder

Yeah, they are the smallest.

- anonymous

gotcha! Thanks can you check two more if that's not two much?

- JoannaBlackwelder

Sure

Yep, looks good.

These are in my own words btw.

- JoannaBlackwelder

Ok, cool. The only thing I would change is that you didn't mention what would happen if you divide two negatives.

- anonymous

So add, once you divide them, you get a positive? @JoannaBlackwelder

- JoannaBlackwelder

Yeah, something like that :-) Or you could use the same sign/different sign idea you used for multiplication

- anonymous

Okay thanks so much, way nicer than one of the matheletes :)

- JoannaBlackwelder

You're welcome :-)

- JoannaBlackwelder

Sorry, some people on here can get kinda cranky, haha!

- anonymous

Omg yes, lol thanks again. I'm going to go search around to see if I can help someone.

- JoannaBlackwelder

Sounds good. Happy studies :-)
