Geology is that section of biology that deals with the earth as a whole, like it's soil etc. It's helps us in understanding the soil formation, finding out various types which including fertile ones etc. It's also helps us in understanding rock formation and also the formation of various exhaustible resources like coal, petroleum etc.

basically think of it like this, Geology is basically earth,(the element) while we are life, without earth we wouldn't be able to live because soil provides to plants (which is also biology) then plants provide to other organisms, continuing on and on, so the initial start is with geology.
