    Whenever there are parallel lines (which is denoted in little arrows like in your attachment) cut by a transversal, vertical angles (or vertical opposite angles) are formed. Vertical angles are a pair of nonadjacent angles formed by the intersection of two straight lines; they are always congruent. http://www.mathopenref.com/anglesvertical.html
