    Scientists started putting forward their model on the basis of what they knew at that time. As time passed and new advancement were made, understanding about the structure of atom bettered and hence new models were proposed on new evidences. Does that ring a bell?

    Like, earlier it was thought that atoms consist of electrons revolving around the nucleus in a circular path but now we have many evidences that suggest that electron move around nucleus in clouds, its path is not circular.
