    to the nearest hundredth means to 2 decimal places. look at the 3rd place if less than 5 drop it. if the 3rd digit is 5 or more add 1 to the 2nd decimal place.

    14.416 ^That is a tenth. 14.416 ^That is a hundredth. 14.416 ^This affects the hundredth. 4 or less, it doesn't change the hundredth. 5 or more, increase the hundredth by 1.

    Leave the tenth, or the 4, alone. You need to focus on the 1 and the 6.
