what is the standard deviation of the data set 11,20,31,48

    Find the mean mu then work out the differences between the 4 numbers and the mean. SQuare these values then find their sum and divide by the number of values which is 4 in this case. Finally take the square root of the last result

    Also, note that if the data set is a sample of a population (i.e. not the complete population), then the sample variance is divided by "n-1" instead of "n".
