    (-47)+(-21)= -68

    Add up the numbers without the negative signs 47+21 = 68 then make the result negative to get -68 so that's why -47 + (-21) = -68

    but there both negative doesn't that make them positive

    that only works if you multiply two negative numbers eg: -5 times -3 = +15
