Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1hm, we can do another substitution to make the algebra a bit simpler let's let a = x^(1/3) that gives us 4a^2 31a 8 which factors to (4a+1)(a8) = 0 know where to go from here?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0Then I got x= 1/16 and x= 512

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1x^1/3 = 1/4 and x^1/3 = 8 thats only

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.04*4= 16 So is the answer 1/16 or 1/8 ???

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0As dinamix is saying, you should have `x^1/3 = 1/4` and NOT `x^2/3 = 1/4` You let w = x^1/3, so if w = 1/4, then `x^1/3 = 1/4` solve x^1/3 = 1/4 for x

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I figured that was a miss type... Why is 2/3 now 1/3???

jim_thompson5910

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0you made w = x^1/3 that allowed you to go from `4x^2/3 31x ^1/3 8=0` to `4w^2 31w 8 = 0`

jim_thompson5910

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0solving 4w^2 31w 8 = 0 gives w = 1/4 or w = 8

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1cuz suppose a= x^1/3 not 2/3

jim_thompson5910

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0if w = x^1/3, then w^2 = x^2/3

anonymous

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0Yes w= x^1/3 But w^2= x^2/3

jim_thompson5910

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0the solutions w = 1/4 or w = 8 are for w and not for w^2
