Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Is the sales tax before or after the discount?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1I'm assuming after, so you would do y minus the 18% off, plus 8% of the discounted price.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1To calculate the discounted price, you would do the original price, y, minus 18% of y.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0can you explain how you get the answer in steps please :) @StudyGurl14 @Michele_Laino @welshfella

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Okay, so you have the item at the original price, y. Correct? Then it's on sale for 18% off. So you do 18% times y to get how much money off of the price. Then to find the actual discounted price, you do the original price minus the discount, which is \(y(18\%)y\)

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Then, you have to add sales tax, which is 8%. So, you take that expression up there, multiply it by 8% to find the amount of the tax, which you then add to the expression to find the total amount paid.
