after

I'm assuming after, so you would do y minus the 18% off, plus 8% of the discounted price.

To calculate the discounted price, you would do the original price, y, minus 18% of y.

but can you write it like this so i understand it better... please thx :)
1...
2...

1. Find discount (amount off): (18%)y
2. Simplify: 0.18y
You with me so far?

yea.. continue :) @StudyGurl14 but can you also like answer it as your going :)

3. Next, find the discounted price.
Original Price - discount off = y - 0.18y
Which equals what?

but can you add everything in.. like give me the complete answers in the steps please :)

can we start from step 1 again please @StudyGurl14 ill do it with you

I don't understand what you want...?
Step 1: Find discount (amount off of original price)

I did. I put this --> (18%)y

that's the answer to step 1

exactly so whats step 1 completely

Um...? Like this?
1: (18%)y

so this is step 1:
Find discount ( 18%)y

5: Find sales tax: (8%)(0.82)y
6. Simplify: (0.08)(0.82)y

7: Simplify: 0.0656y
8. Find total paid: 0.82y + 0.0656y
9: Simplify: 0.8856y

is step 9 the final answer?

yeah.

ok and are you sure its correct?

yep

ok thanks i have some more problems .. ill tag you :)

can i have a medal please?

ofcourse!
