I need to figure out the correct formula to solve this: scientific notation for 5,098,000.

    10 is 10 to the 1st power 100 is 10 to the 2nd power 1000 is the 10 to the 3rd power 10,000 is 10 to the 4th power 100,000 is 10 to the 5th power 1,000,000 is 10 to the 6th power Since 5,098,000 is in millions is goes at 10 to the 6th power \[5.098\times10^{6}\]
