    5x40=200 and 4x40=160 so add and u get 360

    write the equation like you read it... 5 times a number...let the number be n...so its 5n plus 4 times the same number....+ 4n equals 360....= 360 so your equation is : 5n + 4n = 360 can you solve for n now ??
