Actually there's a story that when Peter was to be crucified he ask to be crucified upside down because he wasn't worthy to be crucufued the sane way as Christ. When the Angican Catholic was created, identical to the Roman Catholic except the elected Pope was replace by an appointed one, by the Monarch of Britian, the Arch Bishop of Canterbury. Those ardent anti-Roman Catholic used the upside cross to symolize Satan which they assumed was the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
