you need a heat source to boil off the liquids; you are manipulating the fact that there is a difference in boiling points that you can exploit. this is how you separate them. if you have two liquids say A and B and they are more than 5 degrees celsius difference in boiling points. This would be the set up. |dw:1441473198522:dw| Say A has a much higher boiling point that B. B will boil first, enter the gas phase and then enter the condensing tube where it will condense from gas-liquid. and then it will collect in the other collection flask.
