Which of the following statements explains the position of those who oppose expanding nuclear power plants in the United States? There is concern about the disposal of used nuclear fuel rods and the security of the plants themselves. Nuclear energy is an unclean energy source and would only increase air pollution. The amount of nuclear power plants in the United States has already surpassed industries producing fossil fuels. The United States would have to rely on a foreign supply of uranium, thus increasing national debt and dependence.
