    how would you cancel out -6.3 from left side ? would you add ,subtract or divide ??

    well it's already negative on left side - times - = add not subtract

    so to cancel out -6.3 you should add 6.3 both sides do it let me know what you get

    hint: if I add 6.3 to bth sides, I get this: \[\Large y - 6.3 + 6.3 = - 2.2 + 6.3\] please simplify

    yes right so left side 6.3 and -6.3 cancel each other out and right side is 4.1 that's it

    now you can check your answer replace y with 4.1\[\huge\rm 4.1-6.3=-2.2\] solve left side if both sides equal then -2.2 is100% right
