## anonymous one year ago Pre-Calc question if f(x) = x2 + 3 and g(x) = √(x-2) what is f(g(x))?

1. Nnesha

g(x)= sqrt{x-2} so to find f(g(x)) you should substitute x for sqrt{x-2} into f(x) function

2. Nnesha

$\huge\rm f(\color{ReD}{\sqrt{x-2}})=\color{Red}{x}^2+3$ replace x with sqrt{x-2}

3. anonymous

So it would be √(x-2)^2 + 3?

4. anonymous

and the square root, and ^2 would cancel eachother out making it x-2+3

5. Nnesha

hm right sqrt should be inside the parentheses (√(x-2))^2+3

6. Nnesha

yes right!

7. anonymous

so my final answer would be x+1

8. Nnesha

perfect!

Thanks so much

np :=) good job!
