I solved for both a and b and got a= 20.48 b= 14.34

ok and I guess you rounded to the nearest hundredth a is correct
freckles

checking b
freckles

that is also correct

okay so to set up the problem it would be sin(55)=14.34/25 right?
freckles

didn't you already solve the problem?
freckles

also how could sin(55) be 14.34/25 when it was sin(55)=a/25 and you got a to be 20.48?

I guess I am confused. Because I found a and b and then it is asking me to find sin55.. but i tested ratios of sides and everthing comes out false

well you solved sin(55)=a/25 for a correct?
freckles
  • freckles
and you got a to be 20.48?
freckles

so sin(55)=20.48/25

  • cutiecomittee123
oh gotcha! that makes way more sense so the ratio was just that
freckles
  • freckles
yes replace a with what it equals not what b equals :p
freckles
  • freckles
\[\sin(35)=\frac{b}{25} \\ \text{ so you could say } \sin(35)=\frac{14.34}{25}\]
freckles
  • freckles
just if they asked you to do sin(35)
freckles

notice I replaced b with 14.34 since that is what you found b to be
