## anonymous one year ago Maria rewrites a fraction less than 1 as a decimal. The numerator is a whole number greater than 0. For which denominator will the fraction always convert to a repeating decimal? A. 15 B. 6 C. 11 D. 18

sorry i was on a different question for a second

2. welshfella

well it cant be 6 because if say the denominator was 3 that would be 0.5 as a decimal which is non-repeating.

3. anonymous

ok i can see how that works...

4. welshfella

also 3/15 would equal 0.2 so its not 15

5. anonymous

is it 18?

6. welshfella

that leaves 2 so what do you think it might be/

7. anonymous

d?

8. welshfella

try various numerators with 18

9. welshfella

6/18 = 0.333.... that is recurring try some more

10. anonymous

so does that mean its right? or not?

11. anonymous

sorry if i seem rude...im kinda in a hurry im going to the store soon and im not done with hw yet

12. welshfella

it might be right - but can we think of another number over 18 which is not repeating decimal If so then its not 18

13. welshfella

what about 9/18 - what is that as a decimal

14. anonymous

0.5

15. welshfella

right so not 18

16. anonymous

17. welshfella
