    absolute values are positive...even when their negative | 4| = 4 |-4| = 4

    if the signs fall outside of the absolute value sign... - |-4| = - |4| = -4 keep that in mind

    absolute value is the number of spaces you go from 0.....in both directions. so if x is at 0 and you go 4 spaces...both directions.....your are at 4 and -4
