    You don't need to multiply the base numbers because we're just looking for a simplification. The exponent is correct but it would just be 3^8

    Because multiplying 3^3 * 3^5 is the same as just 3^8 because when multiply you just add the exponents and keep the base number.

    You can use a calculator to calculate both and you will come out with 270 or something like that.

    Yeah most people just mess up at first because they think they have to multiply the base numbers too, but no, you just have to simplify and not solve. Think about it like that :P
