    yes, thats correct so you split the middle term -14x into -6x-8x

    x^2 -6x -8x -14 factor out x from 1st 2 terms x (x-6) -8x -14 factor out -8 from last 2 terms x(x-6) -8 (x-6) finally factor out (x-6)! (x-6)(x-8) making sense?
