    the sum is what you get when you add two or more entities. read the sum is 9 the entities are -4x and 2

    when you have to translate the statement into math equation u should remember this key words `is` means equal sign more than/increasing/sum /Plus= add (+ sign) difference , decreasing , minus = subtract (negative sign) quotient = divide product = multiply
