Okay, I need some help with basic Algebra skills please!

    I don't understand where the 36 comes from.

    From the first line to the second line, the amount 36 has been added to the left hand side. On the first line, the constant term is 53. On the second line there are two constant terms, 64 and 25, for a total of 89. Therefore, in order to maintain equality, 36 must also be added to the right hand side.
