- campbell_st

mean and median is measures of the centre...

- campbell_st

when data is skewed there are outliers. The problem with outliers they have a significant influence on the mean....
e.g. 1, 2, 3, 100 the mean is 26.25
eliminate the outlier 100 and the mean is 2
if you look at the 4 numbers the median is 2.5
which is the best measure of the centre mean or median... this idea needs to be applied to skewed data

- campbell_st

is range of a data set affected by outliers...?
range is a measure of spread
