    3x + 9y = -7 ......solving for x....subtract 9y from both sides 3x = -9y - 7....now we would divide both sides by 3 x = (-9y - 7) / 3 or x = -3y - 7/3 3x + 9y = -7 ....solving for y....subtract 3x from both sides 9y = -3x - 7 ....now we will divide both sides by 9 y = (-3x - 7) / 9 or y = -1/3x - 7/9
