Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.03x  7 = 5x + 9  subtract 3x to both sides 7 = 5x  3x + 9  subtract 9 from both sides 9  7 = 5x  3x  simplify 16 = 2x  divide both sides by 2 16/2 = x 8 = x check.. 3x  7 = 5x + 9 3(8)  7 = 5(8) + 9 24  7 = 40 + 9 31 = 31 (correct)
