1. anonymous

A.one solution B.infinite solutions C.no solution

2. FireKat97

okay so try opening the brackets on the right hand side this time

3. FireKat97

and show me what you get

4. anonymous

i get 9a right?

5. FireKat97

on the right hand side... $\frac{ 1 }{ 3 } (9a -18)$ so to simplify this, we would do... $\frac{ 1 }{ 3 } . 9a - \frac{ 1 }{ 3 } . 18$ thats how we open a bracket, so we multiply the term outside to both the inside terms, so can you please simplify this?

6. anonymous

ok ok i will

7. anonymous

1/3*9a-5.94

8. anonymous

1/3*306a?

9. FireKat97

not quite, if you multiply the above equation out, you should get 3a - 6 for the night hand side, do you see why? all I've done here is expand $\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }9a - \frac{ 1 }{ 3 }18$

10. anonymous

im sorry i am not awake this morning i fully understand ):0

11. FireKat97

hahaha no problem, we all have those mornings

12. anonymous

usterday i was on the ball but today i am have like 1000000 brain farts :P

13. FireKat97

hahaha dw thats me most days, totally brain dead

14. anonymous

so the answer is A right because a= 2

15. FireKat97

umm not quite, but it is A

16. anonymous

oh but what does a= then because 6/3=2....

17. FireKat97

wait where did you get 6/3 from?

18. FireKat97

remember we have to let the left hand side equal to our simplifies right hand side and then solve

19. FireKat97

simplified*

20. anonymous

3a-6 right then what do i do?

21. FireKat97

so now we go back to our original equation where we had $6 - a = \frac{ 1 }{ 3 } (9a -18)$ except, we've already simplified the rightt hand side above so its just... $6 - a = 3a -6$

22. FireKat97

Now we can solve for a

23. anonymous

yeah then a=0

24. anonymous

ahhhhhhh im dead >:(

25. anonymous

im so mad with my self right now >I0

26. FireKat97

um, not exactly, you would take the -a from the left hand side over to the right so you get 6 = 3a + a -6

27. FireKat97

and do the same thing with the 6 on the right hand side, you want to take that over to the left

28. FireKat97

collect like terms to simplify

29. anonymous

oh ok hey you should become a qualified helper your great :)

30. FireKat97

hahaha tbh I don't think so, Im still pretty new to this xD but thanks anyway :)

31. FireKat97

But do you understand it all now?

32. anonymous

wait i got this bro hold on

33. anonymous

a = 3 ha is that right?

34. FireKat97

yupppp thats correct :D

35. anonymous

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need help with another pls X)

36. FireKat97

sure thing
