01.05 Comparing and Contrasting Mediums You will complete an organizer comparing and contrasting the mediums of "The Tell-Tale Heart." View the grading rubric as you complete your work. This is your guide to a super submission. Part 1: Select the compare and contrast organizer and save to your computer for use in this assessment. Important: Immediately save the worksheet to your computer or drive. Reread the text medium: Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Tell-Tale Heart.” As you read, fill in your ideas about pace, character, and mood in the organizer. Consider the techniques used in the text, such as your imagination, descriptions of setting, and mood. How do these affect you? Listen to the audio medium: "The Tell-Tale Heart." 00:00 As you listen, fill in your ideas about pace, character, and mood in your organizer. Consider the techniques used in the audio production, such as voice, music, and sound effects. How do these affect you? Write your claim in the organizer. Are there differences in how the medium affects you, are there similarities, or are there both similarities and differences? What is your opinion? Write your responses in complete sentences. Part 2: Below the organizer, write a blog post to your friends comparing and contrasting the text medium and the audio medium of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” analyzing how the pace, character, and mood varied within each medium and how these differences affected you. Use the ideas in your organizer to write your post. Include all parts: Part one: Introduction sentence—Write the title, author, and your claim. Part two: Body—Write about how the pace, character, and mood affected you in each medium. Part three: Conclusion sentence—Restate your ideas about your claim.

But heres an example to do for claim. You can say something like I enjoyed this version meaning (text or audio) better because blah blah blah. So basically put it into your own words depending on how you feel. Did you like the text or audio better and exlain why.

*explain
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
ok,how about for the organizer how do i fill it out like what kind of words do i use
anonymous
  • anonymous
Well for the rest of the organizer- example for pace. Write what you felt was the pace like when you read it did you create a pace or was it naturally their if so was it fast or slow same with the audio.
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
so like pace for audio i thought i was fast so i would just put fast?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Exactly (:
anonymous
  • anonymous
Because the reader had its own pace which was fast
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
oh ok :) thxs, also how about for character what kind of things would i put there????
anonymous
  • anonymous
For the character now: you would write what you felt the character was like when you read it was he nicer, calmer or write down what you imagined about this character while reading it was he crazy think about all all the feelings you felt when you read it. Same for the audio but think about what you were hearing and how it was different from reading than listening.

For the mood you want to put down how the story felt was it dark and scary or happy and joyful put down how you saw the story as

The story is Tell the Tale Heart?
anonymous
  • anonymous
right?
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
yup
anonymous
  • anonymous
So pick 4 words to describe the entire story.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Tip: the words are of course not happy and joyful words
anonymous
  • anonymous
Did you get it?
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
why 4 i thought it was 1 for the text and 1 for the audio
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
groosome is for the text and audio is that good?
anonymous
  • anonymous
I was saying four because then you pick two good ones for the audio and text and yes groosome is good now pick one for text and remember you have to right in complete sentences restate the question.
OregonDuck
  • OregonDuck
@KAKES1967 is this a good claim: I enjoyed the audio version better than the text version because in the audio you can hear his voice how anxious he was getting and you can hear the thump he heard. It was also easier to hear all the action that was going on because of the tone of the characters voice. It was easier to hear his tone in the audio because it is the character himself talking, in the text you can only imagine wht his voice and the tone and tension must be like.

@KAKES1967 you there?
