Compare and contrast sympatric speciation and allopatric speciation. DEFINITIONS: Sympatric speciation occurs when the population of a specific species shares the same habitat and becomes isolated from each other reproductively. Allopatric speciation: When looking at this, it is the evolution when looking at the geographically isolated populations that are separated into distinct species.
