a few years ago a total of 2681 thousand people lived in the metropolitan area of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sacramento, California. Sacramento had 283 thousand more residents than Las Vegas. What was the population of each metropolitan area?

    let x be the population of lived in Las Vegas, then (2681-x) will be lived in Sacramento. (2681-x) - 283 = x 2x = 2398 x = 1199 => Las Vegas 2681 - 11198 = 1482 => Sacramento
