Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I can't see how each one completed it...but I would do it this way.. 3x + 7 = x  5  subtract x from each side 3x  x + 7 = 5  now subtract 7 from both sides 3x  x = 5  7  now simplify 2x =  12  now divide both sides by 2 x = 6
