Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1x is the length of the width, and since the length is 9 more than the width, it would be x + 9

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1So you have a rectangle that looks like this. dw:1443238547361:dw Since the perimeter is just 2w+2l, you can write an equation. P=2w+2l Now plug in your details. We know that P is 174 feet. 174=2w+2l We know that the length is (w+9) and the width is just w. Plug those in. 174=2w+2(w+9) Now solve this.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Good! Now solve for w. Can you do that?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1You need to get the w all by itself. 174=4w+18 Subtract 18 from both sides. 17418=4w+1818 156=4w There's still a 4 in the way. To get that out, you need to divide both sides by 4. 156 divided by 4=4w divided by 4 39=w Flip it so w comes first. Then add your label. w=39 feet

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Your width is 39 feet. To find the length, just plug 39 in for w in our equation for length. l=w+9 l=(39)+9 length=48 feet
