speed=distance/time

5. freckles

you are given the distance and you are given the amount of time

6. calculusxy

so would i have time be 4 1/3 hr?

7. freckles

$20 \text{ minutes}=20 \text{minutes} \cdot \frac{1 \text{ hour }}{60 \text{ minutes}}=\frac{20}{60} \text{ hours }=\frac{1}{3} \text{ hours } \\ \text{ so you have she drove } 500 \text{ km } \text{ in } 4 \frac{1}{3} \text{hours }$ so you time thing is right you might consider it better to write as an improper fraction though

8. freckles

$4 \frac{1}{3} \text{ hours}=\frac{13}{3} \text{ hours }$ or I guess a decimal would even work

9. calculusxy

ok i got it its b

10. freckles

$\text{ so her speed was } \frac{500 km }{\frac{13}{3} hours }=500 \cdot \frac{3}{13} \frac{ km}{hr} = \frac{1500}{13} \frac{km}{hr}=115.4 \frac{km}{hr}$ yes b is the closest one

11. freckles

I should have put an approximation sign betwoo 1500/13 and 115.4

12. freckles

$\text{ so her speed was } \frac{500 km }{\frac{13}{3} hours }=500 \cdot \frac{3}{13} \frac{ km}{hr} = \frac{1500}{13} \frac{km}{hr} \approx115.4 \frac{km}{hr}$
