    1? so in 8 hours it will be 12 inches 3-17 5-15 7-13 8-12 every two hours the candle reduces two inches so in one hour it reduces 1 inch?

    after a simplification, we get: \[h = - t + 20\] please check that formula. So, if I replace t with 8, I can write: \[h = - t + 20 = - 8 + 20 = 12\]
