Why was the shift from the geocentric model to heliocentric model so significant?

    The church was the biggest authority of not only morals, but also science and how the world worked. They prosecuted astronomers who stated the earth revolved the sun. By shifting models the church finally admitted they were wrong and that they didn't know everything about the universe.
