    manipulate each of the 4 options to see if you can change them to x = 2y + z for example the first one:- x - 2y = z add 2y to both sides x - 2y + 2y = 2y + z x = 2y + z you have obtained the equation in the question so its not the first option

    we are trying to convert each option to x = 2y + z to see which one is not equivalent to it.
