Thanks i get that far then get stuck got 3x-2y=5 for first one and 4x-5y=58 for second
there are 4 different ways to solve simultaneous equations. for this one will go through elimination. the objective is to make the coefficients of one variable equal and opposite so that when you add the equations that variable is eliminated. you have a linear equation with the other variable. solve to get that value then substitute in the expression for the eliminated variable to get that value. if is a very good practice to check the solution in either of the original equations because it is very common to make arithmetic errors.
I choose to eliminate y
multiply (1) by 5 and (2) by -2 then add the new eqns (3) and (4) solve for x
using eqn(1): 3(-29) - 2y = 5 gives y = (-87 - 5 )/2 = -46
check : left of eqn (2) 4(-29) -5(-46) = -116 + 230 = 114 = RHS
solution (-29, -46)
