y=kx so anyways you need to find the constant of variation k constant means no matter what x and y is the constant will keep being the same number

so we can find k given (x,y)=(10,4)

replace x with 10 replace y with 4 and solve for the constant k

so you replace y with 4 and x with 10 in the equation y=kx so that g ives 4=k(10) try again...

to get k by itself you need to divide both sides by 10

10/10=1 and 1k=k so you have 4/10=k right? and you can reduce 4/10 as 2/5 or I guess you can choose also to write it as .4 as you just did

so you had y=kx and you just found k to be .4 y=.4x

    yes 4*25 is 100 since 4 quarters is a dollar and .4*25=10 great so when x is 25 y is 10
