WILL FAN AND MEDAL! In medieval European society, was the king or the pope the most powerful figure? A) The King, because the Church had no control over armies. B) Neither, because the power dynamic shifted between the Church and the kings. C) Neither, because the military was more powerful than both kings and popes.

    well actually it would have to be B since the pope had control over the king while the king had control over the land so really the two had equal power that shifted now and again

    The Pope was a powerful figure because of the position he held. The Roman Catholic Church was thought of as controlling you for all eternity, so you would want to respect its leader!
