Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Not really :/ Yes you have to get a certain amount to get a title. Its like a video game, you have to reach a certain level to get a certain item. So this shows your mastery of something.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.3I agree with @jagr2713 Titles are for people to know that you are good at a certain subject. This helps people when they want someone to help them. They tag the user who has the most medals (a title) on a certain subject.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2Jagr took my simile :'( Anyways, 50 medals in one subject shows that you actually excel at a certain subject. If you get 50 medals in, let's say, History, and you can buy a title for a different subject, users will think that you help a lot in that section and tag you. Titles show which users are the ones that specialize in their certain topic(s) of expertise. :)
